An analysis of the first glosses of the Fifth Bekker’s Lexicon (BkV) shows that a renewed studyof the transmission of this lexicon is necessary. The analysis of gloss BkV α 16 reveals thatApion’s Homeric Glosses must be accounted among the sources of the ‘exegetical expansion’of V1 (one of the two major sources of BkV). The analysis of glosses BkV α 5, 12 and 15 highlightsthat the relationships between BkV, the Συναγωγή and the Byzantine Etymologica mustbe thoroughly studied to determine which Etymologica used BkV only through the Σ-traditionand which used a version of BkV directly too.
