The Last Pagan Consul. Messius Phoebus Severus in the Context of Anthemius’ Reign and in Light of Damascius’ Vita Isidori 

While the first part of this paper placed Messius Phoebus Severus’ public commitment in the context of Anthemius’ tolerant religious policy and explained it in light of the late Neoplatonic (first of all Damascius’) political thought, this second section studies his carreer and retreat to Alexandria in detail and shows the coherence of his political and religious defence of the classical heritage.
