The Attic form τεμένη at H. Hom. Ven. 267 should be considered original, since the scribes of the manuscripts of the Homeric Hymns did not have a habit of changing -εα into -η. The Ionic form τεμένεα appears in Homer only once, at Od. XI 185, where τεμένη is transmitted by all extant manuscripts and only the Alexandrian grammarian Aristarchus adopted τεμένεα. It is most likely that the poet of H. Hom. Ven. had access to a text of the Odyssey which already included τεμένη and therefore adopted this form in his own poem.
