The classical Institute of the Berlin Humboldt University used to present own literary contributions in a festive gathering at Christmas. In 1953 a small paper was prepared, the Funke, which contained, among other texts, the report reproduced here on an imaginary football match between the internationally renowned professors and the young tyros of the institute. The result of the play causes little surprise, but another fact seems more important: the features of the heroes, described with deep affection and some humour, reveal the standards of Berlin classical philology.
