A re-reading of the manuscripts and the indirect tradition allow the restitution of quiparum in Isid. Orig. XVII 9,8, instead of cyperum or quiperum, textual emendations introduced by Lindsay and André respectively. Late antique or early medieval glossaries as well as the evolution of similar words from Latin to romance languages also support maintaining the transmitted form quiparum.
