Parole Chiave: Petronius, Martialis, λαικάζειν, infinito-iussivo.

The lexeme laecasin/λαικάζειν, present both in Petron. 42,2 and in Mart. XI 58,12, whether understood as an independent form in a direct speech or as dependent on the verb of speech in a hypotactic structure, is interpreted as a residual trace of infinitive with iussive value.

Keywords: Petronius, Martialis, λαικάζειν, infinitive-iussive.
