For a long time scholars have been discussing various aspects of the Bar Kokhba revolt. Among them, participation of Roman governors of Syria and Roman military units located in this province and actual reasons for their intervention. Though this issue had already been discussed several times it still seems far from being agreed upon, especially in the light of new evidence that has been discovered in the last few years. The aim of the proposed paper is to put together these old and new data and discuss once more the problems related to the Bar Kokhba revolt as seen from Syria.
